@@broncomedia we tried to get a hand on that one for a comparison but they didn’t want to do it! I know that one has slightly more coverage and compatibility with lenses. I would also imagine the quality of their nds are nicer but I can’t be sure

On full frame the 35mm is still wider than the 45mm even after corrections - I personally shoot full frame with it quite frequently TBH and in both s35 and full frame (with corrections) it's my favorite lens in the set, followed by the 65mm... I think I posted an image on the Facebook group a while back that showed it vs the 45mm on full frame with and without corrections before we made this video. I agree it's a really tough choice now that we know the 33mm has that rear element!

@@ShaneVanLitz Thanks! I'll look for that post now! Might actually go with 35 then, as the new B set doesn't really cover anything new for me in terms of FOV. 125mm is not that drastic of an increase since difference between focal lengths in that telephoto range is pretty negligible unlike the wides.

@@DastanZhumagulov Yeah, as much as I'm interested to see how they perform and new lenses are always cool to see... I'm not sure the B-Set is different enough from the A-Set to make anyone feel they really 'need' both. I'd maybe rather the 50mm than the 45mm, or the 85mm over the 100mm but I'm not sure I need a 45mm AND 50mm if you get my meaning. Either of the sets and one of the wide angle options is probably enough for most shooters.

That’s up to you! I’d look at getting a b camera with the same log profiles as the a camera to start with so like you say the R5ii fits the bill but I’d be very cautious about overheating for documentary work! I think the c70 Is a great camera and might even make for a great b camera if you could keep it?

Hey mate, no they’re not! And that colour information looks like it’s gone on the canon but it’s not if we increase saturation it’s all there and it comes back! We find the Canon has a gradual fall off with the Sony drop off a cliff! If that makes sense.

It's also very deceptive on RUclips with the compression etc. We're looking at ways to better show these if we do more in the future. Rest assured though, neither camera is what I would call usable at those extremes (+5 and +6 were IMO not salvagable on any of the cameras we tested, even if they look pretty OK here after all the compression) and the C400 is much nicer all the way untill they both fall off a cliff.

I've not been checking ont he C300iii but I have seen some good prices on C70s lately so you may be in luck!

@@castielvargastv7931 in the grand scheme of things it’s not really that expensive if you’re doing corporate which we think this Camera is for you can get that in one gig.

It is a bit more expensive that's true... but it's also a lot more camera for the money right now. Internal RAW alone is worth it IMO.

@@AldrinSamson it can do repairable motions. It’s just not perfect at it. This is not a software thing. This is because it is on a plastic gear track which is going to have margin for error. I don’t think this can be fixed with firmware!

They get a hair sharper stopped down but the Mercuries are still way sharper wide open than the Blazars ever get even at T5.6 or more. That said, I do think it's fair given the extreme cost and size difference though!

Thanks! We obviously can't speak for other reviewers, but what I will say is that the Canon reps who visited with the C400 were very nice and helpful. They let us take the camera when really they didn't have to do that at all, they didn't ask to see the video before we posted and they seemed genuinly interested in what we had to say and I hope they include some of our feature requests going forward. With that said - Canon didn't choose to send us an R5ii to test before they were availbable to the general public even though we asked for one... But I don't think that was in response to this video at all, more that we only got a C400 because one crossed our paths and it seems Canon don't normally go out of their way to provide sample cameras, they rather loan out retail kits.

@@ShaneVanLitz Canon's influencer marketing may work on gen Z's, but IMHO the primary demographics of the people who'd buy a C400 want real reviews, not YT warriors rabbiting on above their pay grade. You provided one, thanks again.

We did a quick one ourselves and the results are pretty much similar except you lose a lot of character.

I wouldn't be sorry, neither of us uses microthird cameras anymore. but my but my guess is less because you would be getting an s35ish field of view

for bcam? you have to shoot raw for clog 2 which is bad for interviews, not the same base isos and no ibis also has terrible battery life.

@@AlterEgoCreates okay? Shane checked it and you are correct. It does have a basic face tracking in wide mode. Shane says that this is close to what he is wanting but not quite the same as the handle allows you to lock onto faces rather than just let the AF do what it wants . It also doesn’t have the ability to tweak the stinkiness nor can you take over the focus like you can with the handle

@@TheFilmGuyOfficial Yea fair enough. Not perfect but doable. I need to test with multiple people but I think in wide mode, you roll the wheel and it'll select and stick to the one you specify. *I think* that's how it works, even if you don't hit the trigger which would initiate active track. Question for you! Have you sorted out if the RS4 Pro can only store 3 lenses, or is there a way to do more like the grip that can store 15?? I find it crazy that it's essentially the same hardware piece but I can't get more than 3 on the gimbal. Would love to know if you experience the same.

@@AlterEgoCreates as far as i know its still limited to 3 lenses. we think they should allow you to store the info in the app and swap out as needed if memory is the limitation.

@@ryanpallotta5 it definitely has improved but Sony is still a lot better! I haven’t even played with the latest generation of Sony which apparently is a lot better than what I have on my fx6 But Sony is a lot more quick to respond and find what you’re trying to focus on. It also gives you a lot more control over the transition and sticky ness of the auto focus. Canon is still trying to play catch up

Damn hopefully with some firmware it gets better. The sensor and image should be cleaner than the fx6 I’m assuming

@@Seangalusha we don’t see it as the same because it’s going to have different base ISOs and it’s not as useful as a B Cam because it doesn’t have Ibis and only does clog2 in raw! Which is terrible for interviews

It’s all about experimenting and creating. Shot one feature as a director with Kowa anamorphic but this will be my first personal set and excited to capture rural Taiwan in a new way.

The 35mm has been out for a while and the 85mm just came out. There is also a 33mm full frame coming.

@@simonc4764 we havnt found that to be the case at all but to give you some argument, it’s very difficult to know what the hellios 44 looks like because they are all old and Will have slightly different amounts of character. We have two copies and this lens is sharper than both!

@@CodyCha not a terrible way to go but, you are assuming the Wall is straight and that you are holding it straight and mounted perfectly straight haha It’s meant to be dialled in as accurate as 1 mm.

Sounds pretty clunky. Not sure how that’s any easier than just measuring from the top of the lidar 😅

@@ShaneVanLitz the lidar is mounted 4-6 inches above the "focal plane mark" on the camera. It's not a straight measurement.

@@LukasStumpf Taylor and I would both suggest 33, 65 and 85 / 100 if you're only picking 3. The 45mm is fine but the 65 and 35mm are currently our two favorites and I shoot 90% of what I do on those two lenses when I film with these - we're expecting the 33mm to be good as well.

@@danielvidalesyt yes when we were at the lens we were told it was a called a neutral flare! not silver!

Also, at the time we made this there were only blue / amber flair options available - they added silver / neutral based on feedback from us and others ;)

@@joaquinperalba1624 you are welcome!! no it shouldn’t as you are manually calibrating each lens. (Just make sure you measure the distance between the frount of the LiDAR and the sensor plain correctly).

It’s pretty great but you loose the AF and the lowlight in the c400 is insane
